Kowai

Kowai is a kinetic visual novel visually influenced by Blood of a Poet, The Peanut Vendor, and a mixture of cartoons and minimalist design. It's an adaptation of my short film 18 Minutes Of A Film That Refuses To Exist. The story is centered around Janice Kuwahara who died in 2018 and is resurrected 1,000 years later. She meets weird people creatures along the way such as EE a squid-like creature who is a sexton for a cemetery, Joseph who mysteriously lost some of his fingers and gives different stories for how he lost them, Mr. Ae who use to be a therapist and Mr. Oi who was a bum but now travels with Ae to collect and sell items, Nasrin who is a sister to a scientist that can resurrect people, Rebecca who refuses to sell a witch hat to Ae and Oi, and Raye who is a shapeshifter and pretty strange in it's own way. 

Janice makes a deal with EE to help him resurrect his friend Gabe Gomez. On the way she not only meets strange characters, but also talks to her own parasite. She also remembers a weird creature that she claims killed her years ago. Kowai is filled with interesting characters and unique visuals that differ from most visual novels.
